Yodelin Avalanche

Hey everyone! Did you know there’s a big issue in Yodelin, near Stevens Pass, that needs our attention? Way back in 1971, an avalanche hit this peaceful place. After that, a report was made but guess what? It wasn’t really meant for everyone to use. Now, it’s causing some problems.

What’s Wrong with the 1971 Yodelin Avalanche Report?

This old report from 1971 has a few big issues:

  • Just a Peek: It only looked closely at 20 out of 186 places in Yodelin, missing a lot of important areas.
  • Hard to Read: It’s been copied so many times, it’s tough to see what it says now.
  • Summer Visit Only: They checked out the area once in the summer – no snow. That’s not enough to really know about avalanche risks.

Why This Matters

Because of this old and unclear yodelin avalanche report, people think Yodelin isn’t a good place for homes. This isn’t fair and it messes with property values and making homes affordable near Stevens Pass. Not cool, right?

Here’s Our Plan regarding Yodelin Avalanche

We’re asking Chelan County to:

  • See the Report’s Problems: Realize the old report isn’t good enough for making big decisions.
  • Listen to New Studies: Let property owners bring in their own reports from smart engineers who know about avalanches today.
  • Use the Latest Science: We want to make sure any decisions are based on the best and newest information out there.
